O’Brien Tennis offers a range of lessons for our younger players. While many of our students are just starting their tennis careers, some of our students have been playing tennis at the highest levels for years now. Here are a few of the choices we provide:
Beginner Tennis Camp (Price varies)
This class is designed to provide an introduction to the game of tennis. Players will learn the fundamentals of the game through the QuickStart method endorsed by the USTA and other tennis associations worldwide. This method uses the games approach where tennis skills are learned through playing games with a strong emphasis on children having fun and enjoying themselves. The more advanced players in the group will start to focus on game play while the true beginners will focus primarily on acquiring motor skills. The goal of the class is to prepare your children for more advanced classes or just to enjoy recreational play more fully. Registration for this class is through Tracy Arts and Recreation Department.
Private Lessons ($30/hr)
Private lessons are perfect for students who are trying to improve their game as fast as possible, or just feel uncomfortable in group lessons. The emphasis of these lessons vary greatly depending on the skill level and desired level of competition of the student but lessons are always kept fun and educational.
Semi-Private Lessons ($40/hour, 6 person max)
Semi-private lessons are basically private group lessons where the students decide when and with whom they will take the lesson. With adults this generally revolves around doubles tactics and skills but can easily serve as a singles lesson as well.
Family Lessons ($30/hr, 6 person max; $100 for 4 sessions)
Family lessons are designed to make tennis a sport that everyone can play both recreationally and competitively. These lessons will focus on helping the parents better prepare their children to be successful athletes, but to also enjoy the physical activity of tennis and pursue it as a life long interest. Family lessons can be taken individually but it is recommended to take a group of four family lessons to get the full benefit.
